MILITARY COUP D'ETAT IN NORWAY 1940?

The year is 1940. Germany has attacked Norway. If you make a study about the military actions during the campaign, you might ask critical questions about why the Norwegian army failed? Why did the officers give up the fight without fighting? Some of the questions about the military and political situation in Norway in 1940 are answered or explained in a book published recently: Lars Borgersrud: Like gode Nordmenn. Den norske militærfascismens historie II.Spartacus Forlag AS. 648p. 2012. A military coup d'etat might have taken place. The number of officers who supported the German attack on Norway, were a lot .They did not support the Norwegian government. The officers supported Vidkun Quisling who had made a " Radio-Coup " transmitting on radio his approach to end the fighting. The radio was used to stop any military actions decided by the Norwegian King and the government. The coup of Vidkun Quisling is well-known because his speech is recorded. 500 ofiicers are prisoners of war at the Southern part of Norway. The fight is still not ended in the Northern part of the country. Norway is still at war with Germany. On friday May 17 1940 a message is transmitted  by a Norwegian and a British radio station asking Norwegians to join the fighting against the German soldiers in the Northern part of the country. The reactions of many officers were negative. A speech was given to about 500 officers in prison at the camp called: "Grini" . The speech contenting a demand to stop the fighting, asking the King to return to Oslo and  to accept a political programme made by right-wing politicians in Norway. Norway is still at war. The King is fighting. Lars Borgersrud is a Norwegian historian working for years with issues of the Second World War. The news about the officers making an attempt to put an end to the war by the support of King Haakon has been known to a few only. An act of treason. The speech was not talked about after the war. A secret so to speak. How many secrets are still to be found in the National archive? How many people want to protect pro-German support at a time when the King needed all the help he could get? K.B. MARTINSEN: A DANISH OFFICER ONLY?

The history of the German occupation of Denmark 1940 - 1945 is an interesting study. I did not know much about what went on in Denmark during the Second World War. Officially Denmark was not at war with Germany but supported the German warfare with Danish food. The occupation of the country was disliked by many Danish officers. Instead of joining the slow growing resistance groups, some decided to support the occupants. The book called: " K.B. Martinsen. Dansk officer og landsforræder " is the true story about a man who joined the Waffen-SS and commanded Frikorps Danmark's 2nd company. The story is a tragic report about a brilliant Danish army officer who left Denmark to fight for the German occupation of Russia.
He believed in the policy and theory of the Danish National Socialist Workers Party of Denmark (DNSAP).
He was not a politician but he made political decisions in a time of war. In May 5, 1945 he was arrested in his home and sentenced to death. He was executed in Copenhagen on June 25, 1949. The book is an important document about a man who believed in his fight for a fascist regime of Europe. The result of the Second World War was suffering for millions of people due to a theory and an atttitude to life dominted by
the writer of a book called: " Mein Kampf (My Struggle)" - Adolf Hitler and his supporters in the German military forces. Fascism and nazism opposes multiple ideologies like communism, conservatism, libralism and social democracy. A totalitarian state is a must and a goal for those who are fighting for right-wing political views. The principles of the fascists includes also racism. About 50 millions of people killed during the Second World War as a result of the theories mentioned. Have we learned anything from the past? What about the supporters of the fascists to-day? Have they understood the content of the fascism?

THE YOUNG EMERITUS PROFESSOR

While reading the biografphy of Hans Fredrik Dahl, I remembered a published photo of the young rebel, the professor, writer. Take a look at the photo from year 1966. HFD: a Norwegian historian,journalist (Dagbladet) and a medio scholar with interest in the work of preservation of old films,radioprogrammes and transmitted television productions. The historian is still interested in totalitarian ideologies of the 20th century and the Second World War. He worked as culture editor of Dagbladet 1978-1985. Professor at the University of Oslo 1988 - 2009. He has recently written an essay in the newspaper Dagbladet published Desember 30 2012. The title of the essay is: " Djevelen er i detaljene " ( The Devil is in the details).

o inform about those who fought for the German occupation of Norway- boys and girls who sided with the German occupation of countries in Europe and the war against communism. Courage is the keyword for his work and actions. You find the information written in his biography called in Norwegian: " Fra Pax til Paven. Minner om meninger". (From Pax to the Pope. Memories about Opinions). Professor Emeritus or Emeritus Professor is the official title he is using for the time being. The term is used when a person of importance in a given profession retires or hands over the position so that his former reank can still be used in the title. So far the present working situation for the rebel,the writer, the politician, the lecturer and the supporter for presenvation of film and tapes and the productions made by audiovisual archives worldwide.For years his statements in different fields have been published on radio, television news and in newspapers. My contribution is to inform you about my personal work with HFD. He does not write about his work to save the cultural heritage made by radioproductions, films and televisions. No.Let me tell you that I managed to make him give a speech in three different cities: London, Mexico City and Riga. In year 1995 he came to London to give a keynote speech at Joint Technical Symposium (JTS). The conference was set up in January 1995 to focus on new technology in the field of film, sound and televison production. The issue for HFD was the new source for future academic work and productions: Television programmes and radioprogrammes and movies.He also went with me to Mexico City in year 2001 to debate the preservation of old films. The conference was set up by Radio Educaction in Mexico City. FIAT/IFTA invited him to both conferences mentioned. In year 2004 he participated in a seminar in Riga, Latvia. The new established Baltic Audiovisual Archival Council where I am a board member, asked him to come.On behalf of my friends in FIAT/IFTA and BAAC, I wish to thank him again for his sporty attitude to the work we do and his personal contribution. The title of the book is " Det var grønt " - " It was green ". A small book. Written by a Norwegian female dentist about the story of a male dentist working in Oslo the capital of Norway. The story is a sad one. Few comments about the happy life of Oslo.No. The dentist is working well as a dentist but his social life after work is a mess ,so to speak. He has a problem in living a life like ordin

ary people with children and family and friends. Too many girls have left him.Sex is important for him to make him relax and to feel good.But he does not want a relationship based on mutual admiration and love. No. He needs a whore and he has to pay for the sex without any moral problems. Sex is sex and important for his health. His childhood is not a pleasant one. He is unknown to his father and his mother is drinking too much.But he is a good student and he manage to fulfil his education. Suddenly one day a boy of the age of eleven tells him that he has a son. Gradually the lost dentist who has no social life of any importance, has to change his life to some extend - but not much. In the next book about the dentist ,you will meet a man who like Ingmar Bergman ,is good doing his work but a family life is not on the agenda.This is my thinking only. The ladies have given him up - an impossible person to live with - but a person who has qualifications making progress in fields where he can control the situation - my thinking only? Let us wait for the next book to see. The name of the writer is Kjersti Anfinnsen who lives i Oslo and who takes care of my teeth. A good dentist to be recommented.
