RUNDALE PALACE: REBUILT DAMAGED LIBRARY

RIGA YEAR 2014-THE RUNDALES PALACE ( RUNDALES PILS)

Seaching for libraries damaged and rebuilt I was told about a beautiful palace situated outside the city of Riga. In Latvian the palace is known as: Rundales Pils. The palace has been rebuilt  during the last twenty years. The library was damaged by Napoleon's Grand Arme in 1812.
The library has been rebuilt but too many of the old books were damaged. A nice "French park"  is also set up around the palace. The Rundale Palace is located in the southern part of Latvia. The palace was built in the periode from 1736 to 1740 as a summer residence of the Duke of Courland Ernst Johann Biron.
