LE DEUXIEME MARI DE LADY CHATTERLEY

LADY CHATTERLEYS ANDRE MAN.

LADY CHATTERLY'S SECOND HUSBAND.

What happened to them all? Nora Helmer, Scarlett O'Hara,

Rhett Butler and Lady Chatterley-a common question asked

by readers worldwide. We ask the question about the future of

Nora Helmer after having left husband and child in the play

" A Doll's House " written by the Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen. Few dare to ask the question about the future of her husband after she left him? And what about Scarlett O'Hara in the movie: " Gone with the Wind". Rhett Butlers famous statement is movie history: " Frankly, my friend, I do not care ".

The sequel to the movie was made in 1994. The film called " SCARLETT" is the story about

the relationship between Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara. The French author, Jehanne d'Orliac

has made an attempt to write a book about Lady Chatterley after she left her husband to live with the forest guard, Oliver Mellors. The book was published in year 1935. The plot is about their new life in France. The lady has made a scandal in England. Oliver Mellors has got a work as forest guard in Touraine, France. D.H. Lawrence who wrote the book : "Lady Chatterleys lover" , made a scandal publishing the book. Keywords like: Sex, erotic and sensual descriptions

about the love between Lady Chatterley and the forest guard were not accepted as good literature at the time. Jehanne d'Orliac is not making a copy of D.H. Lawrence bold erotic descriptions or using words that might insult people. No. But she gives a good description of how society approach the lovers who have moved to France secretly to live in peace and to make a life based on sensual body contacts. The society is of less importance for both of them at the beginning of the stay in France. Gradually the French aristocracy get interested in the woman and the man who has made a scandal by making love to each other. The winner is the French

aristocrats who dislike the action made by the lady. The class society makes a move to split the

the lady and the forest guard - and they made it because the lady is a lady made for the rich

and not to stay with an ordinary forest guard: A former soldier and blacksmith.

THE FRENCH AUTHOR: WHO IS SHE BY THE WAY?

I did search for her in some old Norwegian encylopedias without any result. She is not mentioned in my books about French literature either. I had to " google " her so to speak.

Her real name is not Jehanne d'Orliac but ANNE MARIE JEANNE LAPORTE. She was born in year 1883 and died in year 1974. Few information about her is published. She was a famous lady in France before the Second World War. I did not find any photo of her. A report about her written by documentaliste Regine Malveau in 1996 might give an answer to the question of

the writer who had received " Le legion d' honneur " in 1937!

" ...Elle connait toutefois une fin de vie difficile en Touraine apres avoir ele inquietee a la fin

de la seconde guerre mondiale pour son attachement av Marechal Petain...".

Jehanne d'Orliac published about 6 books and many plays and poems. The titles of some books:

" Joan of Arc and her companions ", " Francis I, Prince of the renaissance " and " The lady of Beauty, Agnes Sorel, first royal favourite of France ".

CONCLUSION

The book hunting in Nederhult resulted in information about a French lady unknown to me.

An interesting lady who was awarded for her works in 1937 but whose support to the new leaders of the German occupied France might have been forgotten after the war due to her

support to Marchal Henri-Philippe Petain (1856-1951)?

Marchal Henri-Philippe Petain was condemed to death in August 1945. His sentence was commuted to solitary confinement for life. He died in prison at the age of 95.

To the left: Henri-Philippe Petain.

BOOK HUNTING IN NEDERHULT

Some like it hot-extremely hot - searching for a distant goal: Old books only - and some forgotten and officially lost movies - but not forgotten by some dedicated book hunters. The legendary British hunter Denys Finch Hatton made Kenya famous due to his hunting activities and his love to the Danish farmer Karen Blixen. Animals were
the object for his hunting but he later turned to photo journeys. I leave him in peace but he is a good example for all other hunters what ever they want to hunt. I
have chosen books and films for my hunting. My latest place for the hunt was a nice site called NEDERHULT. For the time being I leave it to you to find the place. The hunting leader was the book hunter Lasse Nilsson. He is addicted to books too.
We went on searching for books in old farms, castles and shops where you might buy anything used for generations who had lived in the district. To my surprise, I found a book written by an unknown French author, Jehanne d'Orliac, called in Swedish: "Lady Chatterleys andre man". I had no information about the writer. Why did I care about the book at all? Because of the preface of the book. The preface was written by the late and former French author and Minister of Culture of France, Andre Malraux. He makes an attempt to understand Lady Chatterley. She has a wish to understand herself and the book is about her talk with herself about herself.
Andre Malraux is of the opinion that many of the persons who D.H. Lawrence is describing ,are lonely. The emotional relations between the persons are too much based on erotic and sexual relations than mutual affection .I get a feeling that Andre Malraux has no faith in the persons described in the book? I might misunderstand him and I might be wrong in my understanding of D.H. Lawrence attitude to the human body and his strong sexual believe in the relation between man and woman? Anyway- the hunt was a good one. I had to learn about a new and interesting French writer , Jehanne d'Orliac. A review of the book will be published in a later
blog. Let us face some fact about the book: The original title was: " LE DEUXIEME
MARI DE LADY CHATTERLEY ". The book is published in Sweden in 1944 during the Second World War. The name of the translator is Olof Rabenius. About 238 pages. The copyright owner is: BOKFØRLAGS AB SUECIA. In 1944 you had to pay kr.14.50 for a copy.
The story is about the new life of Lady Chatterley. It is the story about what happened to her after having left her husband to live with the former forest guard.
I will let you know later on my opinion about the book and the story and the writer
who is a very interesting French lady. Hunting is thrilling! Join me. If you want to hunt in NEDERHULT ,just call Lasse Nilsson who is for the time being working in SVT
making an attempt to preserve the splendid Swedish television productions transmitted.
(If you are interesting in reading about hunting in Kenya, I will recommend the followings books: 1.Errol Trzebinski: Silence Will Speak. The story of Denys Finch Hatton 2. Lennart Hagerfors: Drømmen om Ngong. 3. Tonni Arnold: Bror Blixen.4. Beryl Markham: West with the Night.
For your information: Apart from hunting animals, all of the hunters mentioned in the books also appreciated reading - apart from Bror Blixen).

BATTLE FORCE-THE 1936 BERLIN OLYMPIC GAMES

ARCHIVAL FOOTAGE HUNTING IN MOVIES

Research work - searching for archival footage of any subject - is a daily work for all television archives worldwide. It is an important task for media librarians to find old shots, old programmes forgotten and hidden in the archive. The introduction of new technology - the policy of digitalization of the collections of television programmes transmitted - has made the work easier than when you had to read the old cards in the card catalogue.I call the work film hunting because I appreciate to view
old movies lost and forgotten and out of date so to speak. Recently I bought an old move called: " BATTLE FORCE ". I bought the film because many famous actors are playing in the film. Names like: John Huston, Henry Fonda, Helmut Berger and Stacy Keach - just to mention some. The film is dealing with the Second World War and the
1936 Olympic Games in Germany, Berlin. The film hunter was in action hoping to find some forgotten shots. I was right. The historical introduction of the subject dealt with in the movie is made by using old German news reels. Even a shot of a German
aircraft passing close to trees is used. The footage has been used to illustrate the
German invasion of Norway in 1940 in Norwegian made war programmes many times!
But my interest this time was the archival footage of the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. Only 40 seconds are used. We see the official opening of the summer games in
Berlin. Adolf Hitler is attending the games. Shots from different sport activities
like running fast. Why pay attention to 40 seconds of old sport shots? Is the name
Leni Riefenstahl familiar to you? The IOC commissioned her to produce a documentary
about the 1936 Berlin Olympic games. The film was released in 1938 after having been
edited for about 18 months. The film became a standard for all future sports documentaries for a long time. The film OLYMPIA was a non pro German film even if
Goebbels put pressure on the producer to make that kind of film. Shots of Jesse Owens
were used even if the German disliked that an American non white runner was the winner. Leni Riefenstahl is still famous for her film called: " TRIUMPH OF THE WILL "
produced in 1934 dealing with the September Nurnberg Party rally.
WHAT ABOUT THE OLD AND FORGOTTEN MOVIE I BOUGHT?
Frankly speaking, the film is not a good one. Sorry. You will find the movie by searching the following titles: THE BIGGEST BATTLE, IL GRANDE ATTACO, DIE GROSSE
OFFENSIVE and BATTLE FORCE. The movie was released in 1977/78. A story of how WWII
affected the living of a German and and American family.Splendid actors doing the best to make the film a good one. The archival footage is the winner this time and for me it was a good hunting!
For those of you who want to view shots from the Olympic summer games in Berlin in 1936 -buy the film.
