BAYEUX
TAPESTRY- LA TAPISSERIE DE BAYEUX
The Duke of
Normandy did it in year 1066. He conquered England. The story of why he did it,
how he did it and where he did it, is depicted in a 70 metre long embroidery:
The famous Bayeux Tapestry.
The visual
report is well preserved. The Bayeux Tapestry features on UNESCO’s “ Memory of the World” Register. The Duke of Normandy, William,
invaded England because he was of the opinion that he had the moral right to do
so. The main reasons for his military actions are well described in details on
the famous tapestry. After having conquered England, he was named, William the
Conqueror. The Battle of Hastings in
England was a dramatic battle where few could predict the final result of the fighting.
The story
of the content of the visual report is presented in different languages even in
Norwegian.
The
embroidery is made of linen and wool for about 900 years ago.
The address
to the museum is: LA TAPISSERIE D BAYEUX, 13 bis rue de Nesmond, 14400 Bayeux,
